Chaparral Resources, an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, pursues international oil and gas projects, primarily in the former Soviet Union state of Kazakhstan. The company sold its US exploration and production interests to purchase a half-interest in Karakuduk-Munay, which has the rights to develop the Karakuduk Field oil property in Kazakhstan. Exploratory wells built to delineate Karakuduk have produced oil, but future production value remains uncertain for the 17,000-acre field, which has not been commercially drilled.
