When the stock was in the 7's last week, many of the day traders publicly posted their bailing out. To lock in the profit and all, that's cool. But my question is how did they 'know' to bail then? Why not at 8 or 10, there was no sign of people dumping (at least no visible signs using non-level II tools, i.e. yahoo) all the way to 7.5, yet when the daytraders bailed, they made it clear 'that' was the time to bail.

Who knows? When a stock rises so rapidly there is sure to be a settling down period, people taking profits...not just the day traders. As for knowing the "when"....well who can predict what the high or low will be for the day? For day traders it was a good move.

Some of us who got in at lower prices, I'm sure sold a few shares and bought back lower.

Yes we all believe in PNL....but we are also here to make money. Bottom line...$$$$$ profit is why we are in the stock market in the first place isn't it?

Still long,
Helene

Paul, you're asking some very good questions IMO. I was lucky enough to sell some in the 7's (while I still have a smaller core holding) and I think that was the right time for a couple of reasons. First, the stock was dramatically up in a short amount of time. However, why 7, why not 8 or 9? Second, as you pointed out 8 is a 'resistance level'. I don't put a lot of faith in tech analysis, but that may be a factor. Perhaps the biggest factor is that a lot of people investors knew about the V3 release ahead of time because PNLK had an approximate release date. There was no surprise factor AND no other news was released to keep it propped up. Some fear perhaps of release problem. End result--sell a day or so prior to the release to lock in profits. So, perphaps the peak was 7 ish simply because that was as far as it had gotten to by the TIME people decided the risk had grown a bit larger.
Good point on the outstanding shares. I like just about everything PNLK is doing, but the shares keep the price down because the price is a function of market cap and shares outstanding.

Good luck. Ted
