hi hio: Thanks for the posts. I thought I would type out an excerpt from a speech made in London yesterday regarding analysts as reported in The Times.
_______________

Sir Ronald Hampel, one of British industry's most influential figures for more than 20 years, launched a scathing attack on City analysts and financial journalists yesterday, blaming them for creating "instant heroes and villains" in the boardroom.

Addressing his final annual meeting as chairman of ICI, the company he has served for almost 44 years, Sir Ronald complained that analysts "with no regulatory requirement for accuracy or consistency feed comments to the media which create real problems for management.

It requires courage to maintain a long-term strategy under this sort of media pressure. Today's heroes are tomorrow's villains.

The most important point to make is that the company strategy has not changed. If it was brilliant in May it most certainly was not stupid in October. But unquestionably the share price was overblown at its high at that time; equally at its low it took too pessimistic a view of the company's future".

HIO--- This one " Are PC stocks dead on the
charts? " makes CPQ look REALLY sick from a shareholder view IF you are into charts etc.. After reading it many would think again on the sector. Few T/A people would buy it at all...

Ouch - that Red Herring article about CPQ going down to 15-17 did not comfort that we have seen the bottom yet. Next few weeks should be interesting.
