Three-Five Systems, Inc. Announces That It has Been
Selected to Work With Qualcomm, Inc. On a Design
for Liquid Crystal Display Modules


TFS - news) today announced that it has been selected to work with Qualcomm, Inc. (NAS: QCOM) on a design for liquid
crystal display (LCD) modules to be used in Qualcomm's fifth generation, digital cellular telephone application. Company
officials stated the order calls for beginning shipments later this year, pending qualification by Qualcomm of first production
units. The final units will contain a liquid crystal display, display electronics and a backlighting system.

Company President and CEO David R. Buchanan stated, ''This program is important to us for two reasons. First, it
demonstrates our ability to provide a high level of engineering support. I believe our ability to respond quickly with our
U.S.-based design team was instrumental in securing the order.''

''Second, this is our first major program with Qualcomm, a multi-billion dollar leader in the international cellular telephone
marketplace. Qualcomm is a technology innovator, and we are looking forward to a relationship that will allow both companies
to capitalize on growing markets and display technology advancements.''

The display module from Three-Five Systems will be incorporated into a CDMA digital cellular telephone for distribution in the
Americas and other CDMA markets. CDMA is a digital wireless communications standard.
