Recent interest likely inspired by MIDI's MS Audio 4.0 support, Mark.

But MP3 and MS Audio 4.0 are just particular ways of getting to the same place: "high fidelity" multimedia. There's nothing sacred about either format and the vast majority of consumers can't fathom the nuances of any of them. That's why MIDI's "does 'em all" convenience strategy makes sense.

The next step is for MIDI to get its player onto millions of desktops. This is an evolutionary process and takes time. One good strategy would be for MIDI to raise some money and start acquiring some niche content aggregation firms. Another would be strategic relationships with independent artist music sites, perhaps the future of the music distribution business. There are many other player proliferation strategies; hopefully, MIDI's on top of all of them.
