Bingo! I've been mulling this over myself. How about this: Instead of quoting how many percent a given stock or index has bounced off its bottom (which nobody called), how about putting these quotes into the context of their prices last May? That way we can tell at a glance how much lost ground has been recovered.

For example, Halliburton is trading at 23.6% off it's 52-week high, set in May'98...
