LU's strategy could use parts of 3com top-line growth products. Agree -management has suggested that it would divest any businesses that could not generate 10% growth. And, yes,(your quote) 3com's"managment really mislead the analyst community while selling their own shares at an inflated price. 3Com is in the penalty box. The price will not move up significantly without a real catalyst - verifiable take-out offer, blow out quarter, etc." and "Sooner or later, someone will make a serious offer - $35 or so -"...

I agree with you and Steve. Forget Lucent as a potential suitor. When they bought Ascend that door closed, both from an overlap and DOJ perspective.

If there is to be a suitor, it'll almost certainly be a European concern wanting to gain a foothold in the domestic networking sector. Oh, and forget AT&T, too. Doesn't make a good strategic fit.
