I think they have the $$$, and more importantly the currency (MSFT stock), to do both, LindyBill.

MSFT will continue to buy back their shares. That's a given. But the real action lies out beyond property lines of Redmond. And all those shares they buy back are essentially Treasury Stock which MSFT can use as currency in a deal. So you see, it doesn't effect MSFT's ability to buy anyone if MSFT decides to buy back more stock than normal. In fact, it may be a leading indicator that MSFT is planning on acquiring somebody or something large if they are buying back more shares than normal.

Just my opinion. I do not have any information.

Microsoft will buy back their shares...and I mean about 10 Billion worth. It will be their tribute to us...the shareholders, for trusting the rock during all this internet stock BS.

Mark my words.
