In the anchodesk QuickPoll, Go2Net is running second from the top on the "Which will disappear first?" question. 20% think it will disappear first. 23% think NBC's Snap will go first.

Polls like that are silly, but Berst makes some good points in the article. Portals were a big deal last year, but have lost much of their luster. Fortunately, GNET's strength lies elsewhere. Communities like this one or the play network don't depend on the portal. These destination sites are the future for GNET.

What an absolutely preposterous article. Jessee Berst obviously is trying to gain notoriety at the expense of the net stocks. Who really cares what his poll reflects? He does not give any meaningful basis for his theory.

I do not understand why everyone wants to jump on this bandwagon of bashing the net stocks. The Internet is here to stay and can go nowhere but up. It's like plastic to the 50's.
