Seen a lot of good points on the thread in the last few days.

Looking for a run-up to 120 in the next few trading days.

Everyone have a good weekend. The family is going up to our new vacation house in the San Juan Islands that Cisco bought!

Regards,

Eric

>>Those complaining about the tight trading range on this board have essentially announced to the rest of us that you are short term thinkers.

Well thanks for calling me any kind of thinker <g>. I like to think of myself as a long termer, mm, and I'd like to see csco break out of its current range <just greedy I guess>. I also think a split is overdue.

I will bet anyone on this thread that he won't announce a split until, or shortly after, the 7/99 quarter.

I'll take that bet. A gift box of fresh SF sour dough bread vs. a regional selection of your choice. Bet?

Frank

mindmeld,

All of you complaining about no split have either lost touch with how companies
are valued or you just want the price to appreciate in the short term to make short
term profits. The long termers would prefer price stability and predictable, sane
increases over the long term. Predictability means less risk. John Chambers is
simply unmatched at giving us the least risk for these kinds of returns.

One other point, and I'm sure you've heard Chambers express it as I have, is that he'd prefer that Cisco stock price move up gradually, rather than have violent ups and downs. Much better to attract the best people, with stock options, to go to work there. The guy thinks of everything.

Chambers almost certainly won't announce a split this quarter.

I agree with you. JC's mission is to keep the company growing, keep the margins high, and keep the stock price reasonable. If splitting tends to drive up the price (arguable) then he will not split it until Q3 or later.
