Depending on which industry MSFT spends their stock in, a dilutive EPS impact may not be such a bad thing. Especially if it is going to move MSFT's internet properties to the next level.

And I would argue that at some point those types of investments will become more and more critical to driving MSFT's share appreciation going forward. Also, I think MSFT has plenty of room to cover and dilutive effects of a stock deal with their unearned revenue balance and "investment income." Let's face it, MSFT beating expectations does not have the same impact that it used to. Entering new markets and the internet will be critical if Gates and Ballmer are going to take MSFT substantially higher over the long term.
