AR, I grew tired of being in the front lines so i have fallen back and waiting for the bears secret weapon - the next credit crunch to take hold. In Q4 credit grew at an unsustainable rate but it's magic is still pulsing through the economy. The month of January showed a significant slowdown. In addition, corporate share buybacks accelerated during Q4 but there are limits to this madness. During the impeachment hearings I stayed clear because I felt ( right or wrong) the PPT would not let the mkt fall. I have felt for a long time that no rate hikes or other attempts from the Fed to stop the insanity are coming. The market trades on momentum not fundamentals so the obvious deterioration in fundamentals and excessive valuations have meant nothing and will continue to mean little until after the fact. Easy credit has become the engine of growth for the market and the economy and those who control it care little about the inevitable bust. Some would argue that the Fed's gamble on perpetuating the bubble until the rest of the world's economy recovers is their only choice but I feel it will only result in greater destruction. My caution has made me miss a few good ones but the downside is huge once this mania tops. Mike
