Autoweb comes up flat in Q1?

Trevor:
Do you know when ABTL will report Q1 earnings? Looks like AWEB was a little short on meeting consensus.

Autoweb.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AWEB) posted a wider-than-expected loss in its first quarter Thursday, losing $2.4 million, or 25 cents a share, on sales of $5.7 million.

First Call consensus expected it to lose 23 cents a share in the quarter.

Its shares closed off 3 1/16, or 10 percent, to 26 7/8 ahead of the earnings report.

The $5.7 million in sales represents a 166 percent improvement compared to the year-ago quarter when it lost $1.7 million, or 23 cents a share, on sales of $2.2 million.

"We are extremely pleased with our record revenues and first quarter results," said CEO Dean DeBiase in a prepared release. "Our successful IPO yielded $71.1 million in net proceeds to the company, and we progressed in a number of other important areas."

Autoweb.com shares moved up to a high of 50 shortly after its initial public offering before swooning back down to 19 5/8.

First Call consensus expects it to lose 87 cents a share in the fiscal year.

Look at charts on WEBT, MMPT, MXTL,...for example of
what AWEB can do.
I believe AWEB will running up big within 4 weeks.
The next 2 weeks will have it at least $35+ as a high.

re: manipulation (probably not)

I think the root cause is that this puppy has alot of daytraders. From what I've read, many of them like to close their positions at the end of the day; which means that they have to open their positions at the start of the day. Consistently higher prices in the early morning than in the late afternoon seems to fit this model.

Don't know how people can make alot of money in the long term that way, but who knows, some people may do better than a trip to the casino with this strategy :-)
