Correct me if I am wrong but Maxtor plans to continue building 4.3GB/platter drives this quarter as their main/only 5400rpm platform. They will be competing with Qntm's 6.8GB/platter drive. For this reason QNTM has the advantage. Maxtor seems to have decided to skip one generation of drives to save on development costs. The tradeoff is that they are not keeping pace with bringing costs down and as a result will have to put up with a soft quarter. This is good for QNTM and not the end of Maxtor.
