Thankyou tech-support (the trees thank you too),

That worked beautiful. You seem to be getting very comfortable with Win9x.

Now can I open that window back up -- it's getting stuffy in here? <g>

hey pw,

that little gem is going into my pc tips file right now. i haven't experienced the prob wily just described, but it sounds like it's there waiting. so i'll be ready. maybe when i have some time to mess around with it, i'll try print to file function and see what happens.

thanks for your contributions here.

does anyone know how to use .gif or .bmp files as desktop icons?

i recently found some instructions involving renaming them to give them .ico extensions. doesn't work for me. i also read that windows will "scrunch" bitmaps of any dimension down to icon size. these instructions said to accomplish this, select 'All Files' from the 'Files of Type' list box. this didn't work either.

anyone?

:)
