the merced emulator is a software tool which runs on standard Intel IA32 hardware but simulates the 64 bit merced environment. It has been around for more than a year, and is primarily useful for developing applications and OS "Stack" components. Since it uses the host OS for kernel and driver services, it is not of any use for core kernel development or debugging aside from showing that a component will actually run in the simulated 64 bit environment.

Not only does the dog not bite, it's not even a picture of the dog - it's a manual on where to find a book on dogs at the library.
