To MU Laton: Glad you are checking out the Q thread. The posting there is voluminous but a lot of wheat - more wheat and less chaff than usual on these threads. So a rich source of info. Of course some posters there are more informed and thoughtful than others. Probably the poster to pay the most careful attention to is Gregg Powers, but there are many more with a diversity of ideas but up until recently a group of long term holders who discovered the Q and became supporters through thick and thin. You will soon discover which to read and think about and which to click by.

The Nokia situation is very interesting. Nokia set up a "lab" next to the Q's headquarters in San Diego to learn how to make their own CDMA chips (learning from osmosis and perhaps lunches, etc. with Q engineers - plus hiring a few no doubt). But Nokia has had great difficulty even so with their own chips. Their CDMA phone production has been way behind schedule as a result - even though they are far and away the best phone handset manufacturer in the world. So it ain't easy. As for substitutes for the Q's CDMA, lots of folks have tried that route but the results are not very impressive so far. Maybe this will happen, but it's a little like picking another team against the New York Yankees. Not good odds. Nokia is now trying to work with a Korean company to "jointly" develop new phones - and the two companies plan to spend $8 million to do so. This is the equivalent of a few days R&D for the Q. Who is the better bet? Up to you. You pays your money and you takes your choice. :-) Best. Chaz too
