this assumes portals stand still...i called amazon a threat to yahoo more than a year back and mentioned that to jerry yang at the time, that amazon was coming on as a portal from the etail side most of the portals listed are merging or have announced mergers of some sort i think there's some consolidation premium built into portals already and don't forget that portals are adding auctions, stores, etc. portals may be diluted from corporate webs and vertical webs but they can also build or acquire these sites there's a window of opportunity for portals to realize in doing just that
