rr/athm merger doesn't stop competition. Competition still exists in communications. That's the important thing to remember. T will have a great competitive advantage in offering high speed cable connection, but that doesn't mean they can't screw up. If they do screw up for any reason dsl companies and other cable companies(their still are other cable companies) will benefit. This doesn't destroy competition, it merely makes it HARDER for other companies to compete. This is good for t,athm,rr.
