But that was before the huge AT&T offer. Now Comcast's choices may be no deal, or deal with Gates. The question just would be, if this hypothetical were to come true, what will they choose.

But I agree with you that MSFT would benefit most from staying out of this altogether and focusing on Roadrunner, which suddenly just got a whole lot more interesting for them what with the interest in Maffei. They now have leverage.
