Hi thread -- can someone tell me what management said when they announced earnings and held their conference call, not about the accounting change but about the future? I know b2b was about 1.1, and that's good, but did they say anything about prospects for the rest of the year, beyond this year, and pricing levels for their products (OUR products since we or at least most of us own shares)? The volume on this selloff concerns me a bit, even though it's less than the total of shares traded on the updays recently. So it may be just some concern about the special charge, some profit taking, some general paranoia by folk who have been burned by this stock's price behavior in the past. Thanks. Oh, and Cheers/t

I listened to the conf. call and this is what I heard which was extremely difficult when George talked.

Topline growth 10 mil short due to 6-7 mil currency exchange rates and 3-4 mil on less sales of 8051 microcontrollers

Accounts receiveable up because of backended March

16 meg flash is strong and so is pricing 32 meg will be ramping 2Q I believe

Sony Pocketstation great success they should be ramping chips mid year for Sony to sell majority in fall for XMAS

Analyst asked if they were getting more design wins from Sony. Atmels response was that everyone tries to get Sony's business and that they do have more high volume chips to ship to Sony. I thought this was encouraging.

8051 Micro controller sales down due to competitive pricing, George said he turned down business where he can't make money. George said they are moving towards flash based Micros and system on a chip design Micros. These are selling good.

George really likes the Smart card chip business they have a new encrypto based chip that is proprietary and in good position of the market. I heard mention that eventually every PC will have a smart card reader and Atmel is in position to get a good share of that.

All I can think of; overall the call was good with a bright future. The revenue and earning short fall was due mostly to currency exchange rates which is better than something fundamentally wrong IMHO. I suggest everyone take the time to hear the call I'm sure I missed a lot.

P.S This is the most I've typed in awhile and it took a hell of a long time with 2 fingers.
