You understood perfectly.. We have it somewhat worse as most of out funds are backended so you only pay the commission if you sell before 6-7 YEARS. Needless to say, that LOCKS you in some major dogs for a LONG time, and you feel trapped. Last year, I paid TAXES on losses ! They earned negative returns and I paid taxes on capital gains distributions... Ouch. I am going into stocks now but I will need help in buying LEAPS or options for the 20% I CAN invest in the USA. The other 80% will HAVE to be, BY LAW, into UNDERPERFORMING canadian stocks... Maybe I'll buy TD Bank or Nortel as US Proxies.. Take care Jean
