Ampex has significant experience in digital image processing and has approximately 1,000 patents and patent applications in this field and in recording technology, from which it has derived significant licensing income, primarily from manufacturers of consumer video products around the world. Recently, Ampex has sought to leverage its digital image technology and expertise both internally and through selected strategic investments, particularly in companies which are involved in the delivery of video images over the Internet.
