In the spirit of posting the good, the bad and the ugly about Iomega the following two posts are from the AOL Motley Fool and are not very encouraging:

Subject: Forget Six Sigma

....at least for a day or two

....concentrate on the Six P's

Prior Planning Prevents P&%# Poor Performance

I had the misfortune to attend one of the 800 Clik! demonstrations to be held between April 16th or so to some time mid-May.

IMOVHFO there was no preparation for the event I attended.

The rep for Iomega products (a very nice gentleman, by the way) simply showed up and placed himself at the CompUSA digital camera display area.

He was very personable, but looked like a fish out of water. In demonstrating the Clik! drive, it appears he may have actually sold a digital camera or two....

Iomega had no special promotion or bundle for this event.

Whether or not Iomega monitors these boards or not may be a moot point..(at least according to NSACORAF).

.....but,.....as a shareholder,.....I am pi%$#ed off!

Kinda reminds me (sadly) of "turning up the noise...real loud" ...those words still sting.

Iomega needs to bundle, bundle, bundle...."real loud"...

Clik! for Digital Cameras is NOT SELLING!

We desperately need a point of sale display!

And....promos,

.....$50 coupons to anyone who buys a digital camera

.....4 pack of disks to anyone who buys a Clik! drive during the demo

.....some excitement has got to be generated...

As much as I appreciate the beauty on Clik!....including fit and finish, potential buyers and salesmen...do not have a clue of why they need one!

......the process of using the serial port to get pictures into the computer is ...DOG SLOW

...It is not even a question of being able to use it away from the PC...

I use the clik! exclusively...even when I am taking a bunch of pictures at home..

The 32mb Flash Card will hold 67 hi res pics....takes 2 min 46 secs to upload to the Clik! reader...

....F-O-R-E-V-E-R.... using the serial port!!!.......

As far as the Clik! PC Card Interface goes, apparently Iomega did not think it necessary to have any for sale (at $129), nor the Clik! Plus either!....guess Clik! Plus has to be special ordered....

...the Clik! PC Card Interface would go beautifully with the new HP Jornada.

I may go to another demo tomorrow, and see if the rep will also demo the Jornada.

Totally pi%#ed off..

>>>If the Clik! is to be a force in the industry someone had better get off their ass and start training sales people on the proper use of Clik! and how to explain it and its usage to the public or we ain't going no where.<<<

Well said, actually...I asked a salesman at one of the Toledo Best Buys about Clik! for cameras and had to prod him considerably before he remembered, "Oh yeah, the Iomega guy was around and showed me that"...

Editorial comment: In 1998, Iomega literally caused big losses to hit their bottom line by throwing away precious marketing money on ads such as the one portraying a guy flying over the Bermuda triangle, then finding the pilots missing....made no sense to me and I own both a Zip and a Jaz drive!

This latest mission of sending Iomega representatives out to 800 locations in 38 states to "preach the gospel" about the advantages of having a Clik! drive had better be orchestrated (a script written to follow or something of the sort) and effective or we are about to see more money poured down the tubes for nothing! Money spent that will cause the Q2 numbers to be, in Jodie Glore's words, "comparable" to the Q1 numbers prior to a special one-time charge for restructuring.

The posts (testimonials) above are not good news, and I hope Iomega is reading these boards and does something to rectify the situation immediately!!!!
