Thanks 49erSteve.......That would make my day!

They make it sound like it's a done deal as soon as two DOW companies merge. Any speculations as to which two could be likely partners?

Welcome back!

Don't get me wrong. I think AOL is a good company, but I just read that they would have to sign up EVERY household in the USA to bring in 10 billion, yet they are currently valued at 130 billion, which would be equal to about 7 or eight major companies that are doing about 10 billion in sales right now. I know there will be other revenue, but compared to other INET companies out there (one in particular -- this is my shameless plug), is it not a tad overvalued, and with so many outstanding shares, if the institutions ever decide to sell, there won't be enough stock investors in the world to buy these shares. See below for my favorite INET company right now. You all use just a piece of them each time you post or read on SI. Do what you will, but if you have any value investing blood left as it relates to Internets, then GNET should have some of you AOL money -- unless you have plenty without it.

IMHO AOL will be added to the DOW sooner than most people now think.
Everybody knows the DOW needs an inet stock and AOL is the bellwhether. What they don't know is what might happen to create a place for them in the DOW. Here are a couple of scenarios:
1. Get rid of one of the co's that represent the same industry. For example HWP and IBM are both computer co's. Delete HWP. S and WMT are both retailers. Delete S. CHV and XON are both oil co's.
2. Delete some of the old co's that are no longer representative of our new tech driven economy. For example: UK,GT,AA,IP

There are plenty of co's in the DOW that could and should be taken out to make room for AOL and other tech stocks. If MSFT,INTC,DELL, CSCO and WCOM weren't all NASD stocks I bet most of them would have been in the DOW a long time ago. Since they only accept NYSE stocks, I think we'll see AOL,LU and EMC added before long, unless they change their policy and accept NASD stocks.

Comments?
