They participate in a large number of these new businesses that you never hear about. I worked on a JV between Intel and TCI on cable modems that went nowhere, and they also have an online tech assist business that was a great idea and competition to one of my projects but it isn't going anywhere. They should absolutely leverage their incredible presence. They've got brilliant engineers, and like HP have great software people but get swamped under disciplined business priorities and have a hard time executing outside the proverbial box.

I'm buying a little due to price, but the colocation effort remains to be seen. I'd be more impressed if someone like T did it.

They would have to hire networking personnel like crazy to have a shot. Experienced network personnel are hard to come by and probably
would rather work for startups like Juniper or Exodus , Covad etc where they can get rich through options rather than boring old Intel.
The options Intel hands out is miniscule compared to options handed
out by companies like Exodus.
