They are not dead but they are crippled by their competitors.
I dont know if Ahhaha would agree with this but my view is that the ideal situation is exactly this. Having competitors, but generally crippled ones. Keeps you sharp without draining the profits. Intel is the best example of this.
Once again the question is whether the alternate forms of internet access isn't plenty of competition enough for a cable "monopoly". I know the public wont be able to see that at all. So I guess the regulators will have to side with the public view. Or is there the possibility that the regulators have more wisdom than that? Anyone?
