Hal --

I didn't mean to ignore your question, but yesterday I had no electricity as a storm blew down some power lines and I had to catch up on a few things today.

So here is an answer to your question ----
Being an old pro at upgrading PCs, it must make for quick work compared to the average user attempting an upgrade. How long would it take you to change out a motherboard, add fans, RAM and CPU?

the first time I install a strange (one I've not used before) mother board the action goes as follows ....

1) find my glasses
2) find the mb
3) go look for the screwdriver
4) place the case on the bench and open it

as necessary ....

5) remove the cables, etc from the old board ... put tape on each and write where it went on the old board or cards
6) remove the hardware from the case ... put tape on each and write where it goes back in the case
7) go to the kitchen and get a cold drink
8) go to the bathroom
9) answer the phone
10) find my glasses
11) examine the new mb and check where the standoffs and the mounting screws are going to go
12) go find some more standoffs and screws
13) find the screwdriver .....

well, you get the picture .......
I spend more time getting ready to install than the install takes...

Mowa says he does it in 15 minutes ....

heck, most of the time it takes me 15 minutes to find my glasses ....ggggg

NOW
the second time I install a mb ....
I normally just look over the first install job and dont have to worry about all the things I took my time making sure everything was right the first time ....
and
those I can normally do in about 30 minutes to an hour .....

I guess that if all the parts were handy and I didn't have to hunt them up and my glasses were on my head ---
for a complete new box my average time would be a couple of hours from start til I had it running ready to install Windows.

But then I never have been one to worry about how fast I was, I just hate to have to do things over when I messed them up by getting in a hurry.... or shorted out something by being hasty.

Now if I can just get out of this chair and find my way to the bed, I think I'll call it a night .....
