Why choose UNIX to begin with ? So you can migrate to other UNIX vendor machines with relative ease. So why buy proprietary iron (Sun) when you can by x86 architecture and remain open to running a wide variety of operatings systems. IT environments increasingly are running in a heterogenous environment. Having a machine that could run NT or UNIX allows greater flexibility. Other than Linux, name some other operating systems that run on the Ultra-sparc architecture ?
