My votes went to the deal, just out of spite. Homestake and Newmount have very forward thinking environmentally friendly, community friendly and worker friendly, management systems in place. IMO they are leading the way for other mining companies. I'm not an environmentalist but I love to cite these two companies accomplishments to my environmentalist friends when they dump on mining companies. These companies have instituted education, water treatment, agricultural ,,...etc,etc, programs in many small third world towns they established their mines in. They are welcomed in third world communities now as their reputation in the third world is good.

I can't bitch at a company (ARP) that took my shares from $1.60 to $7.00 after an offer from Barrick at $4.50. Even sold some at $7.50 this week.

russett, feeling rather good about his soul and his pocketbook,...you all should too.

I think it IS over. I expect Homestake to take it all.

However, I will have sold all my ARP stock (except maybe 100 shares) prior to the meeting, just in case. Why? Because if the vote does NOT pass then ARP stock will be gutted.

I DON'T expect this will happen. But, IF it does, then I would be there to pick up the pieces and buy back into the story before Barrick or someone else makes another offer.

I don't imagine managment of ARP would be too pleased to have to go through it all again, but I wouldn't mind. Made great money here and I'd love the opportunity to do so again.

(Just wishing out loud - no indication this will happen.)
