Rheumatoid arthritis. An auto-immune disease. My immune system is confused, and thinks my own synovial tissue (inside the joints) is the enemy, and is trying to "kill" it, which causes new tissue to form in the joints, which become stiff. This is different from osteoarthritis, which is the wearing away of the cartilage, which we all get with age. Actually, I am feeling much better than I was when this all started, except for the knees. I have every anticipation that tomorrow I will start dancing again, or at least being able to pee sitting down.
