Steve: It is the cable modem coupled with "fiber optics" that will "unclog" the information highway! Fiber optics is "clean" compared to copper lines (present system). Signals along such lines are limited...comparison to "overcrowded freeways"...whereas fiber optics will increase the number of lanes on the freeway dramatically. Not talking about a single lane but manyyyyyyy lanes! Fiber optics does not have the "noise" or signal attenuation that wire has. From a business perspective you are looking at "waiting line concept" the more you can process the lower your costs and greater profitability. 3com is well positioned with cable modem technology and ADSL...comparable to the last "toll booth" before you can complete your destination. Soooooo guess how much that toll fee is going to be to get your data to its final destination! Yes...you guessed correctly...it will be "premium grade" rather than "regular"! This is the technology that is "on the block" and why 3com is moving!

Regards, & load up!
