Roger, I have a cash/margin account. This way if I'm low on cash, I can still get the stock. The margin covers that. I then do an online cash transfer within a few days from my checking account at another bank to ETRADE. I never trade on margin. This market is too scary as it is. Gambling with an "all or nothing" attitude (that's how I see trading on margin) is dangerous. Noone should be playing with money that they can't afford to lose. BTW, did you try placing the SCH order a second time after the first denial? Maybe it was just a glitch?
