Stephen,

You posted the following:

...3Com is trying to improve itself and Wall Street's opinion of the company, said Craig Johnson, principal at The PITA Group, in Portland, Ore.

"A week ago 3Com finally took action to cordon off their network interface card and modem business," Johnson said. "They seem to be taking action to distance themselves from their low-margin business."

I know these aren't your words, but do you know what this means? cordon off? distance themselves? Sorry, but this is too vague for me. Is he saying they are going to dump those (i.e., sell) businesses?

Yeah I've seen all the news about takeover, but I've only seen rumors, nothing real so far. I can't believe how many times the same reports are posted on this thread -- dozens and dozens of the same stuff for the last two days.

I'd appreciate any further (real) information you may have on this issue.

You probably noticed I'm not a regular poster on the thread. I own the stock, but this thread stays too busy for me to keep up with. And often times, like recently, it's all 90% redundant. I can't believe the number of people who participate on this thread. Why is there so much interest in this company/stock? For two years and four months now the stock has disappointed. The 200 DMA is still falling after all this time. Do you believe the company will ever return to the go-go days it saw prior to 1997?

Thanks.
