Maxnet Holdings Inc. Files Trademark Infringement Suit Against Maxnet Inc. --
NASDAQ:MXNT -- in U.S. District Court

BusinessWire, Thursday, July 30, 1998 at 09:19

DANIA BEACH, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 1998--The
Florida-based Maxnet Holdings Inc. filed a Federal Trademark
Infringement lawsuit today against the Pennsylvania-based Maxnet, Inc.
(NASDAQ:MXNT).
Maxnet Holdings alleges that Maxnet Inc. has infringed upon the
company's federally registered service mark, violated the Federal
Anti-dilution Act of 1995, and is engaging in unfair competition.
Maxnet Holdings, Inc. operates Maxnet Communication Systems Inc.,
which was recently acquired by H.I.G. Capital Management and is now
doing business as Maxnet Systems, Inc. Maxnet Holdings holds the U.S.
service mark MAXNET, Registration No. 2,098,687.
Maxnet Communication Systems began using the service mark MAXNET,
as early as July 1, 1990. The company filed an application for the
MAXNET service mark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on
September 11, 1995, and received its registration certificate on
September 23, 1997.
The complaint filed today in the US District Court for the
Eastern District of Pennsylvania, asserts that Maxnet Inc. "committed
acts of palming off and deceiving the public into believing that they
were purchasing goods and services at or from Plaintiff's organization
when in fact it was the Defendant that was providing the goods and
services."
"The company Maxnet Inc. (MXNT) is using our trademark without
our permission and we are seeking an injunction and damages. Since the
names are identical and our businesses are similar, one would
reasonably draw the conclusion that the companies are one in the
same," states Tom Dresser, CEO Maxnet Systems. "This is causing a
great deal of confusion because Maxnet Inc. is selling stock and
purchasers of this stock are using our web site as a reference on the
company," he adds.
The Florida-based company, Maxnet Systems first learned of Maxnet
Inc. in July 1997 via a press release announcing that Concord
International Group had changed its name to Maxnet Inc., and
subsequently changed its symbol to MXNT. Maxnet Systems has repeatedly
requested that the Pennsylvania company change its name.
Maxnet Systems, Inc. is a network engineering company that
designs, integrates, monitors and manages complex campus and wide area
networks (WANs). Headquartered in Dania, Florida, the company.
augments clients' internal network support capabilities through its
network control center and backbone network support expertise. Maxnet
Systems has a nationwide client base. For more information on Maxnet's
