You have made the following two CONTRADICTORY statements:

Onboard graphics avoids the bottleneck of sending vertex and texture information over an external bus

People who want high performance systems will be using separate parts for the indefinite future


I'm glad to see that you are paying attention. The MediaGX method of integration puts the graphics on the CPU side, which avoids much of the communication requirements across an external bus. Whitney will not have that advantage because the graphics resides on separate chip.

The problem with integrated CPUs is that they are hard to spin, so the highest performance systems will always consist of separate pieces of silicon.
