At 180 MHz, like the MediaGX, Celeron/Whitney will run forever without a fan and without much heat dissipation.

Of course, nobody wants a 180 MHz anything - in case you failed to notice the 4 consecutive QUARTERLY LOSSES that NSM has posted.

Supermicro launches Whitney mobos

US company Supermicro said it will shortly release four 810 (Whitney) motherboards in the near future.

Intel officially releases the 810 chipset on April 26th. (See story: 466MHz Celeron, 810 chipset due April 26)

Two of the motherboards support Slot One, while the other two offer support for the 370-pin PPGA Celeron.

The motherboards have dual support for 66/100MHz front side buses, and also include the audio modem riser technology.

They also come with Wake-on-Lan, modem repote wake up and better system management, said Supermicro. Three of the boards include an on-board 4Mb display cache.

No prices were available at press time. ®

Scumbria,

I've always enjoyed the smell of burning silicon in the living room.

Speaking of burning stuff, within last month two of my hard drives died, one of somewhat smelly death. Both were 7200 rpm SCSI drives, for which, when I bought them, I paid a lot of money. I think I have just about completely given up on the overheating, noisy, overpriced bleeding edge crap.
