he stock of Net Perceptions Inc., a maker of software used by
online merchants, closed Friday at more than double its offering
price in its debut on the Nasdaq stock market.

The compqany, an Internet marketing concern, sold 3.65 million shares for
$14 each in an initial public offering of stock. The shares closed at
$39.8125. Net Perceptions, based in Eden Prairie, Minn., provides
software that enables Internet retailers to market to customers on an
individual basis by collecting data on customers' individual needs, tastes and
preferences with every interaction.
