Hi Stew, yup, caught this little rocket ship in all its lift-off glory, lord be praised. Kind of a bizarre turn of events in retrospect. I was mostly interested in satellites a few years back and was told about Motley Fool and started hanging in the LOR chat room, thread, whatever. A poster named "Readware" was clearly The Man and in one of his posts about Globalstar mentioned that G* would kick Iridium's hiney for, among other reasons, its use of CDMA which would maximize the carrying capacity of the transponders, etc. etc. That caught my eye and I asked him where I could pick up a six-pack of this CDMA brew, and he sent me down to the Qualcomm store.
The Q didn't have squat happening on Motley Fool and some guy told me about SI so I shipped off $45 and the next thing you know I was enlisted in the Holy Wars crusade slaying the Evil Ericcson Empire and mostly trying to persuade my wife that CDMA was more important than gravity, and, that she shouldn't leave me just because I wanted to sell our kids to buy more Q. In a compromise, we bought more Q for the kids rather than with them.
I suspect we must have similar feelings just now: know you backed up the truck for Uniphase which is in the same orbit with Qualcomm. Oxygen's getting a little thin and I just know the NAZ is gonna get hit and trash the techs with abandon. Long story short: I've got white knuckles riding along with a Cheshire cat grin. Best regards, Mike
