Tony - Re: " Anyway, this article says Intel said that it will buy the servers from other companies. "

I guess the "upside" of this is that it will "increase" Intel's CPU sales - since they will now get reported as sales-out - before they are re-purchased !

Tony Viola. Re: "Intel's new venture into data service centers." Thanx for posting that. It's becoming clearer now. I'm glad they will buy servers from their customers, instead of competing with them. When those customers see the size of the potential orders they will all be sharpening their pencils.:)

What I also liked in this announcement was that it stated that Intel's program will go beyond ISPs to small and medium sized businesses, who don't have the capital or scale to build these farms. That will accelerate the e-commerce process.

IOW Intel is building the "e-commerce malls" of the future. I will be curious to know what kind of margins they anticipate.

Paul, Tony, & Thread

Just visited my local CompUSA. Guy working there told me he has a stack of 466 Celeron systems sitting in back and ready to go Monday.

The bar is going up again.

Tony, thanks for the post. I had been wondering exactly how they were going to build these. Rather good to hear it's buy over build. Amy J
