Larry,

I guess I'm one of the few Dell Bulls that enjoys seeing you post on this thread.

I hope that HAL can be coaxed to come out of retirement. I mean, Michael Jordan did, didn't he? Why not HAL?

Re the buy and hold vs trade. I think the answer depends on a lot of things. I tend to favour Buy and Hold, but marginal rates in Canada is far worse than the capital gains tax rates that you have in the states.

If DELL were one's only assets, then listening to HAL would be in order. At the other end of the spectrum, if Dell were less than 10% of one's assets, there really is not any risk from BUY and HOLD.

For most of us, an option somewhere in the middle might be in order.
Have a core "buy and hold" position with trading position for the rest based upon Hal's call.

Personally, I like to write PUTs after the Market kicks the daylights out of Dell, but before it shows much sign that it's about to recover.

One of these times, I just might get to own more shares and at a lower price than I had imagined possible. So far, I've just had to pocket the premium.

have a good weekend,
Ian.
