Cather, I don't know the likelehood. I was just interested because i heard the largest(by a mile) Canadian cable company, Rogers---just sold its shares in ATHM. All cable companies (according to Jean Gauthier) in Canada offer ATHM. I was just considering the possibility of another deal being worked out with Rogers and MSN or AOL etc. where Rogers would benefit more than it did while holding a small stake in ATHM. I am just interested in getting into Rogers stock as it is Canadian content for the purposes of our retirement accounts which have some restrictions on foreign holdings.
If you are interested, here is Jean's post on cable and other high speed access in Canada.

i like idea of msft providing msn thru cable with athm. how likely is this

Unlikely through ATHM, but highly likely through RoadRunner, the competing service co-owned by TimeWarner, MediaOne, Microsoft, Compaq, and Newhouse.

There is some speculation that RoadRunner and @home will merge as part of the current consolidation of cable companies. Teflon thinks it's likely. I think it's nearly impossible. [For more (way, way more) on those issues, click on my handle and look at some the messages and responses in the ATHM thread.]

@home is buying Excite partly to get its own portal and content services. RoadRunner has so far avoided such a purchase, so MSN still looks like a good candidate.

Microsoft has also been making heavy investments in ADSL companies during the past three months, so they won't be left out of the broadband arena.
