Pessimism may be reasonable but the outcome is not inevitably bad. The next move however MUST be to take on a project with CLEAR CUT reserves in site. They MUST avoid more grass roots projects because otherwise the treasury will disappear without a guaranteed success. This, of course, can be done IF it is made a priority. With the gold market where it is, there are such projects to be sure. They may not have as much spectacular upside, or they may have more, but it is the way to go now. (In the oil patch it means doing developmental rather than exploratory drilling.)
