WWW and On-Line Service Use Continue to Explode

from zdinfobeads.com

There are things we just know are true, and we tend to put them into our brains as facts in evidence. Yet sometimes, we lose track a little of just how impressive these facts are when we don't force ourselves to really look at them. One of the things that I personally, and I'd bet many of you, put in this category is the growth in the number of US adults that are going on-line.

Yeah, sure, the number is going up steadily, but when I perused the numbers from the latest InfoBeads research that shows some time sequence, I was struck not only by how fast it's growing, but also by the fact that this growth is coming on the basis of some really, really, large numbers. It's one thing for the Web to go from 10 to 20 million users, but it's an entirely different situation to add ten million more users to a base of 60 or 70 million, and to do it in a short time frame.

Let me put one caveat in this. Traditionally Q1 seems to be the season of the greatest growth in the Web and on-line audiences. But even with that factored in, these numbers are incredible. Looking at access, either at home or at work, more than 90 million US adults have used the Web as of April 20th, and almost 85 million have used an on-line service.

Mr. Vendit,

What do you think of AOL's statement 'comfortable with the estimates'. Do you think AOL will just meet the estimates or come in a penny or two higher. Any reasonable chance of AOL reporting 5 or 6 over estimates.

Not sure of what AOL means by 'comfortable'.

Thank You

JK
