Hmmmm.... Just some optimistic guessing:

1) He's tired of working
2) He's rich since he just exercised a bunch of options
3) He's getting lots of grief about the stock price and poor communications with analysts/shareholders. And that just reminds him of item #1 in this list.

Maybe someone with more of a clue than myself can give us some ideas.

As to why Ron stepped down. Perhaps the end of the 20 quarter run of earnings above expectations was viewed as unacceptable. Just guessing. Only insiders know the truth.
