Two things that are important to me are management and cash First a bit about myself and my perspective 4 months ago I read an article in Fortune Magazine and this quote grabbed my attention and I decided to invest 9 months annually to researching the internet from the perspective of the next medium or media (rare media?) (print, tv, cable, next will be the internet in a far more different way then we have seen as yet) the quote " a new industrial order...Somewhere out there is a bullet with your companies name on it. Somewhere out there is a competitor, unborn and unknown, that will render your business model obsolete. Bill Gates knows that...he knows that competition today is not between products but between business models... the hottest and most dangerous new business models out there are on the web" dec 7 98 As a small publisher of travel related print media I was amazed at what I could do on the net and how much crap there is out there. What we have brought on line in the last 8 weeks with accomplished distribution and no need to go back to the press is simply amazing. To be able to improve your publication and simply "put" it out and it instantly be at all distribution points is remarkable. Your tv, radio etc do their production in house. For rare medium to be seen simply as a design company is being extremely shortsighted. They are the ones who have the keys to the production and marketing for this new medium the internet I have spoke with several "gurus" of internet marketing and none of them have the vision of where the net is truly headed. The confused disorganization will be a thing of the past and in its place will be a media that will make it possible for many more nbc's and the like Is this their plan? Will rare medium succeed? Who knows, but I follow where the management goes and lets not forget- 75 million cash. For me to have published 7 travel guides would cost me for 5 years $210,000 x 7 = 1.4 million. It cost us substantially less to accomplish this on the net. Lets give it a 100 x factor 75,000,000 gets you 7,500,000,000 If I had 75 million I'd be building a medium on the internet This is a Revolution, much like the industrial revolution. Remember it was a media source they just bought with a readership already of 200,000 Sincerely Yours, Roy
