Bill, Interesting comparison of portals to 1950s TV.
All these companies offering net access are scrambling to get bigger and bigger. AT&T does not even have much of a portal.

The fact that Microsoft owns the browser is what must scare companies like AT&T or AOL. I understand AOL has Navigator but they will have a hard time converting existing users of IE. Their hope is for new users. We don't know what will happen a couple of years from now but i sense IE will be at the heart of the net---in a sense a Gateway to the net.

BTW--I enjoy reading your posts.
