Morgy,

When have we had deflation in the US?? After the market crash of '29 until 1933.

There was the great deflation that occurred after the Civil War and lasted for decades.. Any others??

And of all the times that we have been able to evaluate the way gold holds up during deflation and depressionary economic cycles, all recorded periods have been during periods when a certain quantity of dollars were pegged to an ounce of gold.

But now the battle is between gold and the US dollar (and the exchange competition with other currencies). For gold to rise, the dollar must decline.

Simple as that.

Moral outrage is when the CBs are causing consumers to pay too much for their gold jewelry because they are locking up 14 years of supply. Bill should complain a lot less since all it would take is for the CBs to start major or minor liquidation of its gold stocks to CRUSH the gold market.

He, and every other goldbug should be grateful that they are only leasing it for a measly 1% rate rather than increasing the supply of physical gold.

Regards,

Ron
