Good post, Pierre. Another thing to consider about these "second and third" world villages is that, while the phones will be pretty expensive by local standards, the usage will be different than we expect in the first world. Here, everyone buys their own phone, but there, extended families will buy a phone and share it. Amongst them they can afford the cost by spreading it out. So while it may seem at first that the airtime will be way too expensive, families will buy them for periodic use and spread the costs over a couple of wage earners, rather than one. Dragonfly
