Scumbria, a strict vegetarian diet lacking eggs or milk will invariably produce severe B12 deficiencies in humans. A high level of folic acid, typical in vegetarian diets, tends to temporarily mask the symptoms. Thus the effects may go unnoticed for years until serious and irreversible damage occurs in the spinal cord and related tissues.
